Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the technical characteristics and applicability of helical cruciform fuel-based small modular reactors for naval propulsion. Helical cruciform fuel improves heat transfer and coolant mixing, enabling compact, high-power-density reactor designs suitable for integrated power systems. Despite these advantages, challenges including pressure drop, manufacturing complexity, and regulatory constraints remain. Further experimental validation and technological development are required for practical naval applications.
