초록

최근 ‘이순신의 선조 출전 명령 거부설’에 대한 기존의 학설을 뒤집는 저자의 1차 연구 논문이 공개된 후 관련 학계, 이순신 연구가 및 언론 등으로부터 큰 주목을 받은 바 있다. 기발표된 논문은 정유재란 시기 이순신과 권율을 지휘했던 4도 도체찰사 이원익이 쓴 장계가 발굴되기 전의 연구였다. 따라서 정유재란 발발 전 이순신의 명확한 작전 계획이나 참전 의지를 확인할 수 있는 기록은 반영되지 못한 측면이 있었다. 본 연구 결과는 저자의 1차 연구 결과에 대한 추가적·보완적·검증적 성격을 갖는 후속 연구로, 새롭게 확보된 정유재란 전·후 이원익이 쓴 장계 기록을 기반으로 연구한 내용이다. 이 논문은 정유재란 발발 직전까지 이순신의 생생한 작전 계획을 담고 있는 새롭게 확보된 이원익의 사료를 반영하고 분석하여 최초로 공개한 내용이다. 연구 결과 『선조수정실록』에 근거한 ‘이순신 출전 거부설’은 사실이 아님을 입증할 수 있었다.

Abstract

Recently, the author's first research paper overturning the theory of Yi Sun-Shin’s refusal to dispatch the navy against Japanese invasion was published. Since then, it has received great attention from academia, researchers for Yi Sun-Shin, and the public. In the previously published paper, the research results were derived by analyzing only the historical materials prior to the discovery of Lee Won-ik’s Janggye. There were aspects that did not reflect Yi Sun-Shin’s operational plans or records that could confirm his will to participate in the war. As a result of the study, it was confirmed that the theory of Yi Sun-Shin’s refusal to dispatch the navy against Japanese invasion is not true.
