초록

이 글은 앞으로 전개될 정보화 전쟁에서 빅데이터로 무장한 AI 기반 첨단 군사과학기술의 발전 방향을 제시하고 있다. 먼저 AI 기술의 실상을 파악하고 향후 나타날 수 있는 미래 전쟁의 양상에 주목한다. 특히 AI 기반 첨단 군사과학기술 분야에서 미국과 일본 등의 움직임을 살펴본다. 최근 미국과 일본이 발표한 국방 관련 AI 지침을 통해 위협인식에서부터 AI와 연계한 군사전략과 무기체계 발전 전략을 면밀하게 추적해본다. 결론을 통해 미국과 일본의 AI 국방정책의 특성을 정리하고, 한국 AI 국방정책 수립 시 고려해야 할 전략적 대응 방향을 제언한다.

Abstract

This article examines the development of AI-based military science and technology, as well as its implications for the future of information warfare. First, the authors present the current state of AI technology and analyze its potential impact on future warfare in light of ongoing technological advancements. Specifically, the study focuses on the AI applications in military science by the United States and Japan, two leading nations shaping the future of warfare strategy. The research highlights significant transformations in threat recognition, intelligence gathering, and automated weapons systems driven by AI technology, with expectations of further advancements. In conclusion, the authors argue that the defense policies of the U.S. and Japan demonstrate a strong commitment to harnessing the potential of AI technology in their future military strategies, offering valuable insights for the evolution of Korea's defense policy.
